    2019 State Arts-In registration now open!

    All youth currently in grade nine - one year post high school are invited to participate in a 22 day theater arts/leadership/team building experience at the Minnesota State Fairgrounds. The 2019 Arts-In experience begins Aug. 8.

    4-H Dog SuperSession on May 18 will be super fun

    Register now for 4-H Dog Supersession! 4-H'ers in third grade and up, their families, trainers, and youth and adult dog project leaders are invited to attend 4-H Dog Supersession on May 18 at the Twin Cities Obedience Training Club in Minneapolis. Registration and payment are due by May 11.

    Attend statewide one-day livestock trainings

    Minnesota 4-H is offering 4-H livestock day camps at six different locations in May and June. The trainings will focus on youth grade 6 and up, but younger members will be welcome if they bring a parent or adult chaperone. Event and registration due dates vary by location.

    Keep youth safe when participating in summer activities

    Summer activities and outings require planning ahead to avoid risk. Utilize the “keeping youth safe” risk management planning tool, guidelines and policies before activities and outings are offered to 4-H members.

    Register for the 2019 Minnesota 4-H Engineering Design Challenge!

    Register your team by May 15 for the 2019 Minnesota 4-H Engineering Design Challenge! The challenge is designed for youth in grades 3 through one year past high school. Great for developing team building, communication and decision making skills, all while having fun!

    2019 YELLO! registration opens April 1!

    Register by May 10 for the state leadership conference, Youth Exploring Leadership and Learning Out loud! (YELLO!). This annual event will take place June 11-14 in St. Paul and is open to youth participants in grades 6+.

    Apply to be a Minnesota 4-H State Ambassador!

    Youth currently in grades 10-12 are invited to apply for the 2019-2020 Minnesota 4-H State Ambassador team! Applications are due May 17.

    Join 4-H'ers across the nation in doing service in April!

    Throughout the month of April, 4-H'ers across the country will be engaged in service as part of the True Leaders in Service challenge! The Minnesota 4-H State Ambassadors challenge all Minnesota 4-H'ers to join this national movement!

    Save the date for YELLO!

    The State Ambassadors are asking youth in grades 6+ to save the date for the 2019 YELLO! youth leadership conference. The conference will take place June 11-14 in St. Paul. Registration will open by April 1.

    Attend spring 2019 SS&W Leader Certification Training

    4-H SS&W Leader Certification Trainings will be held April 6-7 in Isanti County and April 27-28 in Jordan. These trainings are designed for adults and youth that lead or would like to lead training in shooting sports, wildlife, or ATV safety. Deadlines for registering for the trainings are March 20 and April 10. Disciplines fill quickly, so make sure registration forms are sent in early!

    Communicate winter weather cancellation plans

    Review and communicate winter weather cancellation plans of 4-H programs, activities and outings to help ensure the safety of 4-H members and families during the winter months.

    The 2019 Engineering Design Challenge task and handbook will soon be posted on the Engineering Design Challenge website. While you're waiting, get your team going by working on activities in the Engineering Design Challenge learning guide.

    Utilize the sales tax exemption for purchases appropriately

    Minnesota 4-H is an approved nonprofit organization. This provides 4-H exemption on paying Minnesota sales tax on most purchases. Purchases MUST be paid for directly by a 4-H organization check in order to utilize the sales tax exemption.

    Follow the 4-H policy when generating funds

    Fall is a great time to plan for fundraising activities for 4-H programs to generate dollars to use throughout the year. Utilize the information sheets linked in this article and work with your 4-H program coordinator when you have questions or are seeking advice about carrying out local fundraising efforts.

    Keep youth safe when participating in 4-H programs

    Now is the time of year to plan for risk and keeping youth safe as they participate in a variety of programs, activities and events. Use our online planning tool and risk management materials to ensure safe and healthy environments for youth and adults participating in 4-H programs and activities.

    4-H Project Kits now available for check out at Club meetings!

    The Extension office now has 8 Project Kits for use at Club meetings. Each Project Kits contain fun, hands-on learning activities using the Experiential Learning Model. Our current Project Kits are: Balloon Powered Cars, Balls and Tracks, Birds/Birding, Bridge Building, Incredible Wearables, Rubber Band Powered Cars, Straw Rockets, Water/Watersheds.
