Livestock Update

The livestock committee met February 27th. Some of the items discussed:
• They awarded scholarships to 6 Polk county 4-H members who are just coming out of Clover buds or want to try and add a different species of animal to their herd.
• The fair animal show schedule was gone over approved.  It was also discussed about doing an educational event for the public, during our county fair, similar to the “Speaking up for Agriculture” event that is held during the State Fair.
• Also prior to the Fair the committee would like to host a Showmanship Clinic for the youth in the county whether they want to show in 4-H, FFA, or open class.  There would be time during that to discuss barn etiquette so that everyone involved knows what is expected of them.
• A group educational tour was brought up, The Casselton ND vet clinic seemed to be popular on people’s wish list of places to see.  Hopefully a tour can be arranged yet this spring, stay posted for details
