Keep youth safe when participating in summer activities

Summer provides great opportunities for 4-H clubs and groups to enjoy the outdoors through a variety of activities and outings. These activities may also involve varying levels of risk. Ensure 4-H members stay safe by utilizing the keeping youth safe resources: the risk management planning tool, guidelines and policies and individual information sheets.

Note the following:

  • All youth must be enrolled as 4-H members to participate in these activities and outings.
  • Some activities are NOT allowed and some are only allowed if conducted by another entity. Check for these categories in guidelines and policies when planning for summer fun.

Note that special activities insurance must be taken out for some activities that are not covered by AIL Annual Group Accident insurance. These are noted in the guidelines.

Work with your 4-H program coordinator to determine if special activities insurance is needed and for all your risk management questions.
