Animal ID Deadline

With 2019 upon us, it’s time to start thinking about the County Fair and February brings us our first animal ID deadline of the year. All market beef and dairy steer identification needs to be either turned in to the Extension Office or entered into 4-H Online by February 15th! Breeding beef animals and all other animals (rabbits, goats, sheep, swine, horses, etc.) will remain due on May 15.

A few more animal ID related items: many breeding type animals have the potential to carry over from year to year. You may log in to 4-H Online at any time before May 15 and activate those that are eligible to carry over.

Other reminders regarding livestock …

  • Make sure livestock exhibitors are up to date on the livestock training. This is only good for 3 years and is mandatory for 6th grade and up no matter if you go to state fair or not.

Contact the Extension Office if you have any questions.    Ear tags will be available for distribution at the January 13th 4-H Leader’s Council Meeting.
