4-H youth leaders participate in Extension Legislative Action Day

Fourteen Minnesota 4-H youth were chosen to participate in the Extension Legislative Action Day hosted by the Dean's office on Thursday, Feb. 28. Current Minnesota 4-H State Ambassadors, Minnesota 4-H State Shooting Sports and Wildlife Ambassadors, and National 4-H Conference delegates were invited to apply for this experience. This year's selected participants included: State Ambassadors Kaiya Novacek (Roseau/UMN student), Landon Dahl (North St. Louis), Megan Sirek (Rice), Emily Grote (Watonwan), Alicia Sandberg (Chisago), and Zoey Schentzel (Dakota). State Shooting Sports and Wildlife Ambassadors Megan Du Chene (Pine), Lacey Koubsky (Pope), Adia Arndt, & Caleb Brostrom (Anoka). National 4-H Conference Delegates Nolan Hanson (Roseau), Mary Larson (Big Stone), Gigi Otten (Freeborn), and McKayla Carlson-Hughes (Isanti). Youth participants engaged in discussions on the public and private value of Extension, researched their legislators and practiced for their legislative visits. They then joined Extension staff and volunteers in visiting their legislators and sharing their 4-H story. Pine County Extension Committe Member, Linda Defenbaugh also attending this event. We hope these youth will continue to connect with their legislators in their home communities to illustrate the value of Extension and 4-H across the state.
