Register for 4-H performing arts #AtHome

Youth performing in an empty theatre

The new 4-H performing arts series #AtHome continues every Thursday in August starting at 1 p.m. via Zoom! Join us to deepen your appreciation of performing arts while connecting with youth across the state!

This live event gets you behind-the-scenes as we learn more about performing arts and everything that goes into creating theatre! You will have a chance to learn from teaching artists working in the field, receive resources on all things theatre, and connect with 4-H performing arts members across the state.

August Sessions

August 6: Kristen Brogden, Director of Programming at Northrup Auditorium, will give us a glimpse into arts administration as she shows the process involved in curating a performing arts season at Northrop Auditorium.

August 13: Join us to learn how scenic design is brought to life with Ann Segar Snyder! Ann has 20 years of experience working as a technician in the performing arts. She has toured nationally/internationally with Broadway tours and currently works at Children's Theatre Company in Minneapolis as the Master Stage Carpenter of the UHG Stage. Ann was also a member of the Silver Lake 4-H Club in Martin County in her youth where she achieved a trip to the Minnesota State Fair for refinishing a table!

August 20: Many of us are first exposed to music education in a school setting. This could be playing an instrument, singing, performing in a concert, dancing, banging a drum, ringing a bell, reading music and more! Music in schools provides safe spaces to learn and express ourselves. Music education in schools can differ widely and music educators are the ones who make it all happen. This session will focus on careers in education related to music and performing arts. We will hear from Lisa Sauer, a music specialist in the Forest Lake School District, and other educators about the field and how they inspire through the arts!

August 27: Joy Carlson will be discussing improv. Check back for updates.
