Swine Grant Program

NEW in 2020: Murray County youth will have the opportunity to apply for the Murray County Swine Grant Program, where the winning entry will receive one sow and her piglets that are to be displayed during the week of the Murray County Fair. The purpose of this program is to assist youth in getting a start in the swine industry by awarding the sow and piglets to one recipient on the basis of merit, need, future goals and ability to care for the animals. Applicant must be a Murray County resident. Any Murray County youth ages 10–18 may apply. Deadline to enter is June 1, 2020.

Swine recipient will be selected by a committee, and the sow and her piglets will be awarded during the 2020 Murray County Fair. The sow and piglets will be displayed in the FFA Barnyard during the Murray County Fair. Recipient will take full ownership at the completion of the fair, and must be able to remove sow and piglets from the Fairgrounds between 8 p.m. Saturday, August 15 and 10 a.m. Sunday, August 16.

To be considered for this program, all parts of the application, required signatures from related and/or non-related parties, and additional documents must be submitted on or prior to the deadline of June 1, 2020. Incomplete applications will not be considered. Applications will be emailed out to all 4-H families and is also available in the link below.
