Mille Lacs County Program Coordinator

My name is Amber Sixberry, I am the new Program Coordinator for Mille Lacs County Extension. I am excited to get started in my new role! I live in Big Lake with my husband Danny and our 4 boys. I am very invested in the community. This my 7th year on Big Lake School board, it is also my 7th year on Wright Technical Centers board in which I am the Vice Chair. I volunteer my free time to several youth non-profits and truly have a passion for working with youth programs. I graduated from St Cloud State  where my focus was Business Management, I then went on to work in Real-estate and Mortgage for several years and then moved into a management position with Wells Fargo Bank, I loved the work and the people but not the hours. With my husband working long hours farther away from home as an operator for the 49er Union, I decided to take a position I would come to love, spending the last three and a half years working with Central Minnesota Jobs and Training, as a Youth Employment Specialist, I had the pleasure of working with youth in both Wright and Sherburne County, where I was able to build relationships and create partnerships to benefit youth. I assisted many youth in development of life skills, with enrollment into college or training programs, preparation for employment and placement into employment. I loved my work with CMJTS, it was very fulfilling. Recently CMJTS experienced budget cuts, which has since lead me to my role here with the U of M Extension Office in Mille Lacs County. I look forward to devoting my time and energy to the youth programs here, it sounds like the position is fast paced and extremely busy, which is right up my alley! I am very excited to get back to work and proud to have the privilege to be selected to work with the University of Minnesota Extension.
