2020 Market Beef & Dairy Steer ID

Please carefully review the Market Beef & Dairy Steer ID information for 2020 in the below links.  Mille Lacs County Federation will provide one ear tag per class, any additional ear tags will be issued at a charge of $2.00 each.

Families must self-enter their ID information into 4HOnline by February 18, 2020.

Mille Lacs County 4-H Beef Weigh-in Policy

Prior to the February market beef & dairy steer ID deadline, there will be a Mille Lacs County beef weigh-in held at a date and location determined by Extension staff.  At the weigh-in the market beef & dairy steer will be weighed and tagged with the official 4-H ear tag.  In order to be eligible for the rate of gain competition at the Mille Lacs County Fair, the animals must be weighed in at the beef weigh-in, using the same scale as all other animals in the rate of gain competition.

If a family is NOT able to attend the beef weigh-in, they may still enter their market beef & dairy steer in the Mille Lacs County Fair, are eligible for the Blue Ribbon Livestock Auction and Minnesota State Fair if their animal is deemed worthy by the judge.  They will be required to pick-up an ear tag and tagger from the Extension Office and tag their own animal.  The animal must be tagged and entered into 4HOnline by the ID deadline (as set by the University of Minnesota Extension).  The animal will NOT be eligible for the Mille Lacs County Fair rate of gain contest. (Approved at the 4-H Federation Meeting on 1/21/2020)
