Land Rental Rates

The University of Minnesota Extension has helpful information available to anyone that is interested in cropland rental prices. Whether you are considering renting out your land or are looking to increase the number of acres in your operation, there are resources available to help you make smart decisions. The Extension website has a page dedicated to statistics related to land rental prices. There, you can find worksheets to determine the value of rental land from the standpoint of either a landowner or farm operator, as well as many other resources related to farmland value.

Within that page, they have broken down the value by types of land and by county. For the most recent data on cropland rental rates in each county, look at this spreadsheet. In Mahnomen County, the 2017 average was $82/acre of cropland. The projected average in 2019 is $76/acre. The Extension page also has information on types of leases and farmland sales in Minnesota.
