4-H Photo Club Gallery Show

The Mahnomen Public School Cafeteria was teeming with people, conversation & pictures during the 4-H Photo Club Gallery Show on Tuesday, April 4th from 4:00 – 5:00 pm.  The event was the culmination of a 6-week photography after school program offered by the White Earth Tribal & Community College Extension Service (Tammy Bellanger & Rebecca Dallinger) & Mahnomen County 4-H (Gerri Swiers).  Ten 6th grade students from Mahnomen Public & St. Michael’s Schools participated in the 4-H Photo Club after school offering.  The attendees were introduced to digital cameras, rules of composition, and a digital graphic writing app. which can be used to create comic pages by inserting digital photos.  Some of the highlights included making friends, walking around the school and the City of Mahnomen to get those “perfect shots” and show-casing what was learned at the gallery.

Nadine Walker, Art Educator for Mahnomen & Waubun High Schools had this to say about the event: “When students have the insight and 'artistic eye' to create art from unusual points of view it makes for very interesting artwork. Many students from the Photo Club Gallery Show on display this past week at MHS displayed excellent photography with an unusual point of view!  I was very impressed!  Thank-you for a wonderful photography display!”
