    Staff and volunteers must report suspected child neglect and abuse

    Staff and 4-H volunteers have an important role to keep young people safe. All 4-H volunteers and staff, no matter their role or job duties, must promptly report suspected child abuse or neglect to local law enforcement or to the appropriate social services agency.

    New – An exciting opportunity to participate in video production!

    4-H members in grades 6-12 who are interested in learning how to make a video or learning more about videography are invited to attend a 4-H video discovery project at the Minnesota State Fair Aug. 21-25.

    Congratulations to the 2019 Minnesota 4-H scholarship recipients! These fifteen outstanding 4-H youth and alumni across Minnesota stood out among over 120 individuals who submitted applications.

    Keep youth safe – have emergency plans in place

    Planning in advance to be prepared for a variety of 4-H activities is an important key to keeping all participants safe. Utilize the “keeping youth safe” website for resources and information, and make sure to develop and have in place an emergency plan for all 4-H programs, activities and outings.

    Follow the medication policy and procedures

    4-H medication policy and procedures are designed to help keep all youth safe. Utilize the information sheet to understand the policy and how it works. Complete an authorization form before day or overnight activities occur when a parent/guardian is not present.

    Utilize Cloverbud policies and practices when planning programs

    The 4-H Cloverbud program supports the positive development of kindergarten – 2nd grade 4-H members. This requires safety measures, policies and rules that are age appropriate. A resource for parents, guardians and mentors provides information needed to plan safe and age appropriate programs and activities for this age group.

    All youth currently in grade nine - one year post high school are invited to participate in a 22 day theater arts/leadership/team building experience at the Minnesota State Fairgrounds. The 2019 Arts-In experience begins Aug. 8.

    Extension Development and Minnesota 4-H are happy to announce the 2019 Helping Hands Grant recipients. Of the 31 applications we received, 24 projects totaling $30,300 were awarded to 4-H clubs from 16 counties across the state.

    4-H clubs, federations and councils serve and/or sell food to the public in a variety of ways. Follow best practices to minimize risk to the public involving food.

    Keep your 4-H teams safe

    Before 4-H teams gather, make sure all youth are enrolled and at least two Minnesota 4-H volunteers are designated to lead the team.

    A great new video and evaluation sheet are available to assist you in your Science of Animals Project exploration. Again this year, Science of Animals projects focused on zoonotic diseases will receive additional premiums at the state fair!

    Take part in the Great Neighbor Photo Contest

    Tractor Supply Company has launched its Great Neighbor Photo Contest! Submit a photo showing how you have made a positive impact on your community by June 16. Winners will be recognized at a special ceremony during the Minnesota State Fair.

    2019 animal science lease information is now available

    Minnesota 4-H allows the leasing of animal science projects to ensure that all members have the opportunity to experience the showing of livestock projects. Animal science lease information has been updated for 2019 and is available on our website.
