Upcoming Fruit and Vegetable Grower Workshops Available Online

After careful consideration of the recommendations made by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, other federal and state authorities, and the University of Minnesota, all Extension-sponsored face-to-face meetings, courses and events have been cancelled through May 15, 2020.  In response to this, the two fruit and vegetable grower workshops, originally scheduled for April 7, 2020 at the Douglas County Extension Meeting Room are going to be offered online.

The University of Minnesota Extension will be hosting a Fruit and Vegetable production workshop focused on pests, diseases, and pollinators. This workshop is being offered as a live virtual workshop on April 7th from 1:30 – 4:30 in the afternoon.

This is a free workshop. To gain access into the virtual classroom you must pre – register at z.umn.edu/veg. If you are interested in attending the workshop but cannot attend at that time you must also pre – register. The workshop will be recorded and those that pre – register will be sent the recording link after the live virtual workshop takes place.

We have three great presenters lined up:

Annie Klodd, Extension Educator - Fruit Production, will discuss the use of exclusion netting to deal with Spotted Wing Drosophila.

Natalie Hoidal, Extension Educator – Vegetable Production, will walk us through disease prevention.

University of Minnesota Apiculture Technician, Gary Reuter, will present on mutually beneficial habitats for pollinators and your vegetable or fruit fields.

To register go to z.umn.edu/veg or email Robin Trott at trot0053@umn.edu.

The Blazing Trails Workshop, originally scheduled for 8:30 AM on April 7, 2020 will be offered online at a later date. I will keep you posted as updates are available.
