The University of Minnesota wants to help you achieve your college goals by making it free to apply to our Twin Cities campus. If you’re interested, just check the “4-H participant” box in the application. The standard $55 fee will be waived.

In addition to a fee waiver, 4-H youth applying for Fall 2021 admission may submit an application with:

  • No ACT/SAT scores
  • No essay
  • No letters of recommendation

An education at the U of M focuses on hands-on learning and is highly customizable. It all depends on what you are looking for in a college:

  • Looking for a small college feel? While the Twin Cities campus has extensive resources and opportunities, the student-faculty ratio is 17:1 and can be even lower depending on your major. You can easily get to know your professors and classmates.
  • Looking for access to research land and outdoor space? The U of M Twin Cities features 160+ acres of research land right on campus, which includes large animal barns, a veterinary hospital, greenhouses, gardens, and so much more.
  • Looking for an affordable college option? The U of M Twin Cities was recently ranked as one of the top 50 U.S. college degrees that pay off the most ten years after graduation. It also provides specialized scholarship opportunities for Minnesota students.

The University of Minnesota Twin Cities has over 150 majors to choose from. If you’re particularly interested in topics like animal science, ag communications and marketing, environmental science, food business, or plant science, the College of Food, Agricultural and Natural Resource Sciences (CFANS) could be an especially good fit. Check out all 14 CFANS majors and pre-majors.
