Writing a Pre-Harvest Marketing Plan
By Nathan Drewitz, University of Minnesota Extension

FOLEY, Minn. (03/20/2019) — Grain marketing is a great way to improve profit margins.  However, your agronomist is typically not a grain marketing expert and cannot help with those questions.  To help answer some of these questions the UMN Extension Agricultural Business Management team has built the “Writing a Pre-Harvest Marketing Plan” program.  The following is from the release on this program by Extension Educator, Nathan Hulinsky.

Successfully marketing commodities in low prices times are one of the top ways a producer can generate a higher margin.  Determining when and how to market a crop is a challenge in today’s market with low corn and soybeans prices in 2019.

Grain Farmers and Agri-Business Professionals should make plans to attend one of two remaining meetings held across Minnesota.  These free meetings are being provided by the University of Minnesota Extension with sponsorship from Minnesota Corn Growers Association.

Make plans to attend one of the workshops to help determine how to write a pre-harvest marketing plan along with a review of pricing tools.  Attendees will also get the opportunity to execute a pre-harvest plan in a simulation game.  These workshops will be conducted by Marketing Specialist Ed Usset, David Bau, and Nathan Hulinsky, Extension Educators in Ag Business Management.  Preregistration is not required for this workshop.

The following are the meetings planned:

Belle Plaine Vets Club, 221 North Meridian Street, Belle Plaine, MN 56011
Start Time 1:00 pm
