Beltrami County 4-H Drill Team Qualifies for State

A team of ten Beltrami 4-H youth participated in the Minnesota 4-H Northern Regional Drill Team Competition.  They have qualified for the State Horse Show in September.

The winning team members pictured (left to right) are in the back row:  Isabella Anderson, Emma Mutnansky, Chloe Cook, Meleah Grundmeier, and Laura Davis.  In the front row are:  Paige Wickum, Riley Dreher, Della Branham, Kenna Cook, and Hallie Winters.

Drill team provides an opportunity for youth to develop leadership and teamwork skills, as well as enhance their 4-H Horse Project.  The competition creates a positive environment for the youth to develop mentoring skills with other youth. Drill team incorporates coordination and timing with briskness of movement, in a manner that is synchronized with others in the drill team.  Variety and creativity in both attire and routine are developed by the team and their drill leader.

2019 State trip winners are as follows:

Compulsory:  Mille Lacs, Isanti, Carlton, Chippewa, Quad, Isanti, and Mille Lacs.

Small Freestyle:  Mille Lacs, Anoka, Crow Wing Reining Chaos, Isanti, and Becker.
